Rainy start to the morning, followed by strong headwinds, but still a good day! Another day of long stretches between towns. After reading John and Jessi’s blog of their adventure last year, I decided not to opt for the Bowdoin Alternate, despite it’s name. Since it had rained, the prospect of 30 miles of dirt/gravel/muck wasn’t too appealing. I did get a sign, though!
Near the Nelson Reservoir Recreation Area we saw two rocks of special significance to the Native American tribes of the area. The Sleeping Buffalo Rock is huge! Apparently they had to move it to its current location because it was restless in its previous home.
We got into Malta and quickly found the cutest puppy in town. Her name is Chevy, and she’s Canadian.
I have to report, for anyone wondering, that the night sky in Montana is phenomenal. I think about how small the Earth is, and how absolutely tiny we are, along with how many years those little photons of light must have traveled to reach my eyes. It is awesome and mind boggling!!!
